Wisdom from Scripture - My Favorite Quotes from The Holy Bible

I personally selected all the quotes for the 3,000-quote database in the ProStar Coach online self-development service. I've been collecting them for 40 years, beginning with my immersion in world literature at Duke University in 1971. Of course back then, I collected them on cards and bits of paper. Thank goodness these days when I come across a new gem, I just enter it into my online database.

Many of my favorites come from The Holy Bible. I began reading the Bible when I was 10 years old, and some of my favorite verses were embedded in my memory before they made their way to my quote collection, such as these words from Jesus Christ:

COMPASSION - "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you."

GENEROSITY - "It is more blessed to give than to receive."

HUMILITY - "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

Proverbs is a major source of wisdom stated in an unforgettable way...

VISION - “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” (Proverbs 29:18)

SELF-DEVELOPMENT - "For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul." (Proverbs 2:10)

COMPOSURE - "For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul." (Proverbs 2:10)

OPTIMISM - "A cheerful heart is good medicine." (Proverbs 17:22)

OPEN-MINDEDNESS - "Plans fail for lack of counselors." (Proverbs 15:22)

DECISIVENESS - "How wonderful it is to say the right thing at the right time. A good man thinks before he speaks; the evil man pours out his evil words without a thought." (Proverbs 15:23,28)

COURAGE - "The prudent see danger and take refuge." (Proverbs 27:12)

COMPASSION - "A wise man's heart guides his mouth." (Proverbs 16:23)

These also are favorites...

EFFORT - “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might.” (Ecclesiastes 9:10)

INITIATIVE - “Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” (Matthew 7:7)

LOYALTY - "No man can serve two masters." (Matthew 6:24)

PATIENCE - “There is a time for everything. And a season for every activity under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

Have you studied the Bible? What are your favorite quotes?

Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him,and He will make your paths straight.
