Some people ask, "Why are we here?" The true answer: because conditions on Earth have been right for intelligent life to evolve over the past several million years. This has not always been the case. During its first 2 billion years, our planet didn't have an oxygen-rich atmosphere. Later, most species were wiped out by several mass extinction events. Scientists worry that this could happen again, this time caused by humans. Earth's atmosphere is thin and fragile.
A lot depends on whether we appreciate what we call "nature," as if we were separate from it. We need to value our earth-home, feel connected to it. Because we are. That has to begin with learning more about our planet and its history. I hope you've been able to discover more about it first-hand, and through learning.
Let this video remind you of how lucky you are to be alive now, of places you may have been, and of places you may visit in the future...

It's pretty amazing that such a fragile planet has resulted in the incredible gifts we experience in this world. Hopefully the evolution can continue.
